Treasurer

Rita, a native of the Illinois/Indiana region, is a passionate advocate driven by personal experience and an unwavering commitment to justice.  Her journey began in 2019 when her son was arrested – an event that challenged everything she believed she understood about the legal system and forever changed the course of her life.

Following her son’s 22 year sentence, Rita made the courageous decision to transform her pain into purpose.  Determined to ensure that other families do not feel alone or unheard, she dedicated herself to to advocacy through UV4SOR.  Rita works tirelessly to support individuals facing unjust sentences and restrictive registry requirements, while helping families navigate the complex and often overwhelming criminal justice system.  Her mission is rooted in compassion, education, and the belief that meaningful change is possible.

Beyond her advocacy work, Rita is a successful entrepreneur who has owned businesses for over 26 years.  Her ventures have included dog grooming as well as creative arts, crafts, and culinary experiences – all reflecting her dedication, creativity, and strong work ethic.

Above all, Rita is a proud mother and grandmother, whose greatest passion is creating positive change.  Through her advocacy, leadership, and personal resilience, she continues to inspire others while working to make a lasting impact in her community and within the Federal Bureau of Prisons system.
