CorrLinks/Trulincs accessibility

Some of our loved ones do not have access to a vital resource to maintain contact with family. The Bureau of Prisons currently does NOT allow some inmates with sexual offense convictions from accessing the in-prison messaging system despite monitoring available.
Interested in learning more about the impact of these restrictions, our survey results are published on the following slides. Just click the arrows above to progress through the responses to the questions.

WHO IS ADVOCATING?
“Mama Bears” are the largest segment of those advocating, but our loved ones are represented by all different members of the family!

Messaging of loved ones is very important!
“CorrLinks access is not just a way to keep family communications open, but it provides ongoing daily — normal — support when needed. It allows family members to send a quick hi, an update, a funny story, etc., vs. waiting for a 15-minute phone call…it normalizes communication for the family! It’s communication as if the parent or loved one is right there, living life with them.”

Most don’t have access to corrlinks
While some of our loved ones DO gain access to the corrlinks messaging system, the majority are denied access. Often times either not receiving a response to their request at or or being told that it is a broad denail based on “having a sex offense conviction”

Online Communication is biggest deciding factor
While most individuals with sexual offense convictions still don’t receive access to corrlinks, based on responses, there is a greater approval rate for those that don’t have any report in their psr of communication with minors online.
Notably, FCI Leavenworth and FCI Cumberland seem to allow individuals with sex offense convictions access without even needing to request it.
